How to change My Computer's drive Icon?

Hello Readers, In this article, I am going to show you how to change your My Computer's drive icon. Day by day in every way people wants changes in their life. Most of the people had ever used a Microsoft operating system in their lives, they already know about how the operating system's drive icon look likes. There are several ways to do it. You can find lots option in Google to do it, but I know this way good for knowledge and better to do it. Let's get to dive into it.

Option one: Manually change your drive icon

Step 1: Firstly, you need icons that you want as a My Computer's drive icon. You can download it from the Internet or you can make it by yourself with the help of software like Photoshop, CorelDraw, etc. But keep in mind that icon file should have the extension ".ico". So your first step should be taken icon file.

Step 2: Secondly, Open any file editor like notepad, notepad++, SublimeText, WordPad, etc. In that write or copy the following code. After writing the following code save that file with the name "autorun.inf"

ICON = HDD.ico

Step 3: Thirdly, Take both files and put in that drive in which you want to change drive icon.

Step 4: For the security of files hide them. To hide files select both files, now right click on it and go to Properties option and from Attributes turn on the hidden checkbox and click on OK button. Check the following screenshot for better understanding.

Step 5: Lastly, Restart your computer, keep in mind that you have to Restart your computer not Turn off the computer and then start. Now check that drive in which we put the files and you can see changed drive icon. Follow the same procedure for the remaining drive and enjoy a colorful drive of your choice.

Option Two: By using any tools

I know the above option is less painful than changing in Registry of Windows. So I got another option by researching on Google. By researching, I found one simple tool by which you can easily change your drive icon. Let's check how to change drive icon by using this tool.

Step 1: Download drives icon changer application and installs it on your computer.

Step 2: After installing the above application in your computer open it. You can see the following interface.

Step 3: You can see icon location field in application write your drive name like "D:\ or C:\" where you want to change drive icon.

Step 4: Now, browse and open the icon that you want to put in drive.

Step 5: Finally, click on create button and you have done with it now reboot your computer and you can see change.

Conclusion:

My PC has completely different icons for all my drives and it corresponds to the contents in them. That method provides a good look for my system. You will find lots of options for your question but you have to use a more reliable option.
